Generally speaking though this Breed is known for it's laid back, friendly, happy go lucky attitude. And as Breeders we strive to breed Dogs with sweet, affectionate, loyal & devoted personalities so that is what is carried into their offspring, temperments in Dogs are a hereditary issue. So if a Dog possessed a overly tempermental personality it probably wouldn't be a good canidate for breeding & chancing that trait would be passed into their babies. Both our girls we aquired at young ages and began early testing & training before choosing which Dog we breed & with what mate as far as having traits that will when combined compliment our girls in Beauty,Temperment,& purpose. We have a great socialization status that begins within a puppy's first few days, even though they have only the touch & smell scents until 2 wk.s old,we feel that the earlier the start of a human bond the better. We take each new baby out at 1st only daily to record weights and be sure of normal gains & development. As time passes they already know our touch & scents so by the time eyes & ears open they are less apprehensive to being handled & recieving affection & attention in addition to what their Mother is giving them.We have a family Day each Sunday, where my Siblings and their 10 children spend the day here at my parents after Church. This begins the part of socialization that is sometimes "considered" difficult to instill,we have never once found this to be a remote truth. This breed in our many years of experiance has always loved Children and made wonderful family pets for many homes in which we have placed a Puppy. We do provide the babies supervised handling to start which as they mature becomes structured playtimes with all 10 of my neices, nephews, their babies & other pets.I personally feel that as long as there is open communication between the qualified Breeder & the new pet owners for the duration of the pets lifespan(12-18 yr.s),there are never obsticles that can't be overcome by mutual input into any problem solving. This Breed is the one that once you are loved so unconditionally by one,you will never want another breed of Dog.They are inquisitive, very attentive(thererfore easily trained by repeated(consistant coaching & reward),Amazingly devoted where they are content just to be in your presence while your doing an activity. This holds true more for males than females in my experiance,a female has a more emotional & tempermental issues than any male & I find the male to be more patient & less yappy although Maltese aren't as yappy as other toy breeds, the ones that may be are usually more than likely female rather than a male.I own 2 females that are my heart & soul,so this is a very unbiased opinion,my Mother whom I rent from owns 2 Maltese also, her oldest boy,is going on 5 years old now & just a perfectly devoted, loving, happy, humorous little(actually large for this breed at 15 lb.s) character.Maltese, both sexes, are the most perfect pet you could ask for, they are demanding of 1 thing, love.they loves to kiss, cuddle, play whenever you pick them up,they sleeps with you or nearby and you awake to kisses,if you goes out for even 10 minutes they greet you as excitedly as if they had been seperated from you for weeks! We use this personality trait in our Dogs in hopes of always producing the perfect Dog for each families lifestyle & expectations. So far we must be doing something right,99% of our Puppy's are already placed before they are even bred,we have litters planned into next late Winter and have all openings filled by specific people except the ones I advertised here for family friends. We ask a reservation fee to hold that Baby from this litter for you,it will be applied to the full purchase price. We give reciept for all financial transactions, and are willing to acccept payment plans or installments. We do ask that the full purchase price be paid in full 2 weeks before Puppy is ready to go to their new home.We give a medical records showing you what has already been given by the Vet and what & when any further medical attention is needed. They will record your puppy's medical information for it's lifetime. Our Vet does a very thorough examination before signing a Health Certificate that we present you with at the time you come to pick up or recieve your baby. Our Vet,one of our referrals available, gives you his name & number for any questions,we are always happy to give you assistance with any questions you encounter. There is a 1 year guarentee against genetic, hereditary defects & illnesses in our Puppy Purchase Contract that you recieve along with the AKC Registration Papers & when requested a copy of the Pedigree of at least the Dam if not the Stud we have chosen to use also
Okay,I really hope this gives you alot of insight into the Maltese Breed & has helpful information,Please overlook any grammer & typing mistakes also.I also hope it wasn't a bunch of terribly boring information that sounded like a course(in Puppy owning & buying) rather than helpful insights.I just wanted to provide you with as much information as I would need before investing in 12-18 years.I would like as much assurance as possibly I wasn't buying from an unethical or unreputable person, who doesn't care where the Dogs are placed as well as being uninformed as to whether my investment would end up causing myself & family heartbreak instead of years of great & happy memories. |
